From early childhood through high school, we welcome you to the Oakland Literacy Coalition’s 4th Annual Literacy and Justice for All Symposium.

NEED FUNDING TO ATTEND OUR SYMPOSIUM?

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are available and open to all participants wishing to attend. Classroom-based educators and school teams attending from any district are especially encouraged to apply. 

Funding is limited and priority will be given to classroom educators located outside of Oakland and to educators who are interested and available in attending both days. Oakland educator registration is fully reimbursable through Oakland Ed Fund A-Z mini grant program.

  • Priority Deadline for Scholarships: January 15, 2025

  • Scholarships Close: January 30, 2025

GRANTS FOR OAKLAND EDUCATORS

We are excited to share that we will be partnering with the Oakland Ed Fund's A to Z Mini-grant program to support Oakland Educators to attend the 2025 Literacy & Justice for All Symposium. If you register in the Fall you can apply in January and have the Oakland Ed Fund reimburse your ticket through the A-Z mini grants program. 

 

Who is eligible?

Any Oakland based public school educator. Anyone working at an Oakland public school or program (OUSD or charter-managed) is eligible to apply: teachers, principals, Community School Managers, afterschool providers, librarians, anyone!

 

How do I apply for reimbursement?

Applications will go live in January on the Oakland Ed Fund website. Here's how to claim your spot: 

Step 1: Register for the Literacy & Justice for All Symposium via our website.

Stepf 2: Email our symposium team at symposium@oaklandliteracycoalition.org and let them know you are interested in applying for reimbursement. This will help our team track how many educators are pursuing this offering. 

Step 3: In January apply for reimbursement on the Oakland Ed Fund website. We will make sure to link the application to this page once it's made available. 

Step 4: Make sure to attend the Symposium. 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Oakland Literacy Coalition is pleased to partner with Teacher Friendly and University of the Pacific - Benerd College to provide graduate-level professional development credit for attendance at the Literacy & Justice for All Symposium.This unique partnership allows you to merge professional development opportunities with LJ4ALL with the option to earn graduate-level professional development credit for salary advancement and/or recertification. All attendees can request a certificate at the end of our symposium. Ask your district about how to apply for professional development equivalency units.
